Tournament Director’s Report

July 25, 2006

This year our entry for the tournament started at 145 with 12 juniors and peewees.  We have had 6 withdrawals.  The entry is now 139.

It has been a struggle to get everything ready this year due to program problems again.  Once again I am using the AHPA program and thanks to Kay, Henry, My husband Jim, My son in law Ron and especially Sam Tomasavic we can now print and enter.  It is a bit slow but it seems to work.

I have been in close contact over the last weeks with Kathy and Tammy and have very much enjoyed their quick responses to my very many questions and problems.

I would like to bring forth an issue that needs to be looked at.  We have very few entries for the Senior Ladies Class and the Senior 40 foot men’s class.  In both of these classes the point spread was far to great to make a reasonable class.  I was able to make one senior 40 foot men class, However the Senior Ladies class was not close enough in percent to make it feasible so I put them in the Ladies open.  The top 2 will be in the Ladies A class and will play the best 2 out of 3 for the crest and trophy in the Senior Ladies Division.  It is my opinion that these classes should be set as I have done them this year or they should be eliminated all together.  The other option is that all men and women over 65 would be required to play in the senior divisions.  I am really not in favour of that option.

I have been asked to put the city and date of the tournament on the entry form.  I think this is a good idea and have done so on for the 2007 entry form.  As we do not yet know who will be the tournament director for the Woodstock tournament, I have not printed the new form for the delegates to take today, However, after this meeting I will put the information on the form and print it for the delegates to pick up from me before the end of the tournament.

It is very hard to believe that I have been the tournament director for 10 years now.  It has been a great experience.  Thank you.  Have a great tournament.
