This Game is the Pits

Reigning world champion Sylvianne Moisan of Quebec took the women's championship at the Canadian Horseshoe Pitching Championships, held last week at the Khaki club north of Philipsburg. Nearly 170 players from across the nation competed in the event which marked its fourth time at the Khaki Club since 1995. For results see sports.

More than 170 horseshoers competed in the Canadian Horseshoe Pitching Championships, last week at the K-W Khaki Club, near Philipsburg.

Champions Crowned at Khaki Club

Expert marksmen and women of the horseshoe pitching variety descended on the KW Khaki Club last week for the Canadian Horseshoe Pitching Championships.

Adam Ellis of Cookstown was crowned men's champion, Tom Gallina of Guelph was second, followed by Ron Parisien of Ottawa, Roy Hahls of Cambridge and Steve Hohl of New Hamburg.

Sylvianne Moisan of Chertsey pitched a perfect game with 26 ringers to earn the title ladies champion. Moisan is also this year's world champion. Her mother, Angeline Moisan, came in second followed by Sheila McGrath of Kitchener and Lucille Leis of Wallenstein.

Drew Becker, of Kitchener, won the junior division followed by Ryan Shantz of Elmira and Alec Vienneau of Kitchener.

In the men's B division, Ken Drury of Sarnia took first followed by Ike Eichorn of Bradford and Vern Foreman of Kitchener.

In the men's C division, Keith Lindsay of Aylmer took forst follwed by Keith Milne of North Bay, Paul Collard from Quebec, John Taylor and Arly Shantz of New Hamburg.
Joanne Nannigan of Alberta won the ladies B division followed by Heather Morrison of Richmond Hill and Denise Biebeau of Quebec.

In the men's B 30 foot class, Ed Danby of Hamilton took first followed by Buster Duck of Mississauga and Jules Liebeart of Saskatchewan.

In the men's A 30 foot class, Don Griffith of Alberta ringed the winner followed by Wilf Gregory of BC and Ed Claussen of Alberta.
