1930 Canadian Singles Horseshoe Pitching Championships
November 25-27, 1930 • Royal Winter Fair
Total entry: ...
GEORGE WALWIN FROM JANETVILLE, NEW CHAMPION
Sarnia pair, doubles champions
Singles: Points
1. George WALWIN, Janetville 350
2. John SIMON, Melbourne 202
3. Harley G. BRADY, Fenwick 180
4. n/a
5. Norman J. BROWN, Toronto
NOTE: After the preliminary round-robins, they took the top 2 from each group for 24 players.
It is probable that they reduced it to a final of 6 or 8 players. The Mail and Empire reported Walwin
had a perfect 7 games final for 350 points. If right, the runners-up total points allow them only
a maximum of 3 wins and 4 losses which is impossible? Perhaps the report should have said
5 wins for 250 points (assuming they really played 50 points, they incidently played 30 points
in some rounds, possibly the semis). Other probable finalist is Fred HARBURN, Cromarty
(who might have finished 4th. Defending champion William Struthers was eliminated in the preliminaries
winning 2 games and losing 3 in his group. John Simon eliminated his double partner in the semi-groups.
