Top 3 finalists (Men and Women) at the 2001 Canadian Championships

They are accompanied by Hilda Hohl and Dean McLaughlin!
(Standing From L-R): Sylvianne Moisan, Hilda Hohl (widow of Elmer Hohl), Adam Ellis (behind Hilda), Angeline Moisan (hiding behind) Sheila McGrath-Leis, Dean McLaughlin, Ron Parisien. Front: Tom Gallina.

Dean McLaughlin was 12-time Canadian Champion (his first was in 1938 and his last in 1974). He visited the 2001 Canadian Championships and watched the Men's playoffs won by 18-year-old Adam Ellis. But Dean, who passed away on February 27, 2004, remains the youngest man to win the Canadian title as he was 17 and 8 months when he won in 1938.
Hilda Hohl is a regular spectator at the annual "Elmer Hohl Ringer Classic" held at K-W Khaki Club in Wellesley where the courts have been named the "Elmer Hohl Memorial Horseshoe Courts". The courts were home to the Canadian Championships in 1983, 1985, 1995 and 2001.
