Paul Carriere - outstanding promoter

The late Paul Carriere is pictured with a special promotional display 25 years ago. The Weston, Ontario resident promoted horseshoe pitching every occasion he had, carrying pictures and miniature court (see picture), but also teaching the game and displaying his technique on portable courts. One of his greatest achievement was no doubt his Coaching and Technical Manual published around 1991. A copy was graciously given to each participant at the 1993 Canadian Championships! Paul was an excellent horseshoe pitcher, crowned Canadian Sr Men,s champion in 1986 and coming very close to being crowned Intermediate and Senior Men's World Champion! For his achievements in horseshoes, Paul Ende Carriere received the Syl Apps Award in 1990 from the Sport Alliance of Ontario (http://www.sportalliance.com/). He was also inducted into the Horseshoe Ontario Hall of Fame in 1988 as a charter member!
