The picture shows the 1952 Canadian Championships Men's group.
(Back from left to right): Dean McLaughlin, Roy Wilkinson, Pat Ginn, Fern Ladouceur,
Walter Woodward, Stan Fritz, James Daniels, Ted Burrows, Bert Campbell (tourn. manager) and Graham Mawson.
(Front from L-R): Joe Parfitt, Harold Blackman, George Edwards, and Herb Mann (president of the CHPA).
Two of them have won the Canadian Singles title through the years: Dean McLaughlin and Walter Woodward. Jim Daniels was 1934 doubles champion.
Stan Fritz, who came from Listowel, Ont., later convinced Elmer Hohl to enter the tournament circuit. Three of the men pictured above have been President of the Canadian horseshoe association:
Herb Mann (1950-52), Bert Campbell (1952-54) and Ted Burrows (1958-60). But Harold Blackman was also an important volunteer (see
his profile here).
