Jack Adams and Ed Murray (in 1989)

Jack Adams, Horseshoe Canada Hall of Fame Chairman presented ED MURRAY with his Hall of Fame Plaque during the banquet in Halifax 1989. They are two of our greatest volunteers!

The horseshoe pitching world lost a giant with the passing of Ed Murray on September 20, 2006 at age 75. Husband of former Canadian Women's Champion Marg Murray, Ed is the founding editor of the Canadian Horseshoe Pitchers Yearbook (1976). Former President of Horseshoe Canada, he was inducted into our Hall of Fame in 1989 (our picture). He formed the Battlefords horseshoe club (1975) and the Vernon horseshoe club (1982), and also the Saskatchewan H.P.A. in 1976 (in which Jack Adams was also involved). In 1981, Ed received an award from Sports Federation of Canada as outstanding horseshoe pitching personality. Ed Murray also held a column in the Battlefords newspaper weekly reporting news on horseshoe pitching. He initiated the research on the history of horseshoe pitching in Canada, and published an history on both B.C. and Saskatchewan horseshoe pitching. He also published "The adventures of Yukon Joe" (2000) and "Wanderer of the wilderness, Yukon Joe" (2002). See Ed Murray's profile (updated!).
