The 1975 World Tournament was held in Lafayette, Indiana. The mid-70s saw some of the best performances ever in the Juniors. In 1975, John Passmore recorded the highest overall tournament average ever (89.54%), and yet finished 4th with it!!! The tournament was won by Walter Ray Williams Jr (his 3rd and last Junior title). Runner-up Rick Howe and John Passmore had a game that lasted 190 shoes pitched, the longest game ever in the juniors and 2nd longest of all time in any division. They had 61 fourdeads including 12 consecutive ones (all records). Howe had 172 ringers and Passmore 170 ringers. Jeff Williams also set a record of 44 consecutive ringers, one of 16 new records set that year!

Steve Hohl first made the championship in 1974 at 11 years of age. He averaged 70.7%, impressive for that age, but finished in 8th (last) place. His 1975 performance, at age 12, was to be his worst at the World Tournament. But he bounced back in 1976 with an 83.8% overall average which was good for ...5th place. He won the title in 1978 in DesMoines.
