- Judges must be aware of all the rules and regulations for tournaments.
- Judges must carry an equipment kit which will consist of one straight edge, one 6" rule, one 6" spread caliper.
Also required is a small spade, or digging tool to remove clay when necessary to locate the points of a shoe for a ringer check or closeness.
A small towel is great for a kneeling pad.
- Judges must take great care when checking shoes.
- The stake must never be touched at any times while shoes are being judged.
- Never pry against the stake with digging tool to remove clay.
- A ringer is considered on when the straight edge does not rock on the peg. A 3-point touch is not a ringer.
